Investigation on the cutting mechanism of SiCp/Al composites in ultrasonic elliptical vibration machining

Aluminum (Al)-based silicon carbide (SiC) material composites are considered as difficult-to-machine materials because of the presence hard reinforced SiC particles, which results in a greater cutting force and poor surface integrity during machining process. This paper established micro-anisotropic mechanical models SiCp/Al with 10vol% studied difference mechanism between ultrasonic elliptical vibration (UEVC) ordinary (OC) about SiCp/Al. Moreover, this mainly focuses on influence UEVC force, von Mises stress distribution, integrity, chip formation. The validated by comparing shapes, machined features OC experience from literature. Simulation indicate that is different has several good properties. At same parameters, high-frequency makes exhibit variable periodicity reduces average force. instantaneous impact tool fast separation more concentrated thereby resulting particles having break degree than obtained OC. A comparison roughness values simulation result shows obtains better does.
